What a day we had in the NBA.
Anthony Edwards seeking revenge against the team that sent him home.
The Nuggets on a B2B off a 15 point OT win and the Nets take them to OT again.
Jazz still can’t win a game as Kings walk through Utah
The Warriors look like they have found that champi… nope let’s not say that yet.
We have lots of ground to cover and a few injuries to discuss, so let’s get to it …
📈 Anthony Edwards comes out scorching with 24 in the FIRST QUARTER. Well documented Ant wasn’t happy about Luka sending them home in the Western Conference Finals, but this was absurd. Edwards was 8/10 (6/8 3PT) after playing all 12 minutes. A scoreless 2nd period for Edwards & The Don, Kyrie and PJ combining for 23 in the 2nd alone sees the Mavs hold a 61-60 lead at the main break. Kyrie got cooking out of halftime with 16 points in the third which included some very very tough 3’s. Wow is he good to watch. Dallas led by 10 entering the last. Luka & Kyrie weren’t done yet. A good battle throughout the fourth including a dagger step back three that would have given Rudy Gobert some horrible flashbacks of the Playoffs saw the Mavericks prevail 120-114 in Minnesota, Luka & Kyrie combined for 20 in the last and did not sit, safe to say that was a blockbuster matchup and it delivered, Antman will have that one circled.
Mavs move to 3-1. Wolves 2-2.
Jokic is sick of Overtime games already. First it was Toronto, now it’s Brooklyn. Brooklyn came out scorching with a 40 point first quarter, fair enough that was their only chance to win this game, 45 would have done it lol. The Nuggets hit back and Jokic made some defenders look foolish, nothing new. Dominating with 7,5,4 in the 3rd and bringing his squad back within 3 at the third quarter break. Westbrook looked good this game also, huge factor off the bench, positive factor yes… Cam Thomas time is upon us, fourth quarter and it was put the ball in his hands and let him work for the Nets, we expect to see this a lot, rightly so. He managed a few tough buckets and got to the line for 4/4 FT’s to have 10 in final period, but for the second night in a row for the Nuggets, WE ARE GOING TO OVERTIME and for the second night in a row, they walk away with a win, Jokic you are insane… Finished with 29,18,16 on 9/16 with 6 O Boards. Nuggets now 2-2, Nets fall to 1-3.
💜 Sacramento get it done in Utah, ugly game to be honest with you… expected. Kings came out fast as usual, Sabonis with 10,6 & 3 in the first quarter saw the Beamers lead 34-22. Keyonte George with a stinker and letting Sexton warm the bench does my head in, but it is Utah so we can’t look to far into it, trade Sexton & Kessler and rebuild whatever you want out there, but the Lakers could use that bolster. Wow this game was so boring I started thinking about trade situations mid recap. 29-14 Sacramento 3rd quarter dominance saw the game in control the rest of the way. Sabonis with 28 &11 gets it done, still unsure about Derozan in that mix, they needed defence but they went and got mid range scoring? We will see.
Final game of the Day in the Bay. Steph Curry went to the locker room last game with what has come out as a Peroneal strain which will be re-evaluated on Saturday. I was going to tweet that I would shave my head if the Pels lost today, I am so glad I woke up and decided not to. The Warriors looked great even without their sharpshooting legend, well for 3 quarters they did, the boys must have missed the bus. 14 point 1st quarter for the Warriors had everyone terrified, but they held it together and figured it out, some real chemistry at early stages of the season without your superstar, great signs. Podzi with 19, Lindsay Waters the OKC hero with a huge game off the bench (21pts & 8 rebs with a game high +26), Moses Moody (17pts) all were huge in the win, along with new recruit who top scored the team with 28 points. Warriors defy Ingram & Zion who combined for 61 and win 124-106. Pelicans also lost Herb Jones to a shoulder injury mid way through the second half.
